Day 162-169: Faint green glow

Oh what fun it is to ride in an overheated sleigh (hey!)

We left Helsinki, and flew to Kittila, Lapland, "home of Santa".

Now, it was -30 degrees, luckily celsius (not fahrenheit or kelvin), and there was so much snow

The reason for our stay, was for seeing my lifelong dream, the aurora borealis, and something we should know is that in photos it is so bright, but IRL, it is often just a faint green glow.

It happened the night before we arrived, so we were really hoping to see it, but we didn't that night, however, when we went aurora hunting we saw it faintly, and when I WAS SLEEPING mum and dad saw it again.

Our room was a hut, with a sauna, and lots of icicles. The resort had knee deep snow everywhere, and it even had a sled hill/

We had lunch and checked in, and since sunrise happened to be the same time as sunset, we just relaxed in the snow until dinner.

We did many activities. Here is a list

1) reindeer sleigh ride

2) search for "the real Santa"

2) husky ride

4) aurora hunting in an (over)heated sleigh (saw them... faintly)

5) day trip to Levi and visiting the "secret cafe" (even though its the most famous thing in town)

6) snow mobiling

7) ice fishing

8) cross country skiing

9) sauna and outdoor spa

10) lots of sled ride in the snow....
